Toronto Hotspot of The Week - Boxcar Social

Take it from me, bad coffee bars in Toronto are a dime dozen, so it’s so refreshing (literally) to find one that really cares about the coffee it’s putting out. I should curb that comment by saying that so often, a great coffee comes down to the barista that’s making it. But what’s great about Boxcar Social is that they take every step to ensure you get the perfect cup every time.

Brought to Toronto via Halifax, Boxcar Social made a home in Summerhill (right across the street from the Summerhill TTC station) about 5 years ago and has done gangbusters since then. But they don’t stop at great coffee. They also serve a fantastic array of wines, beer and spirits, cocktails, snacks and foods all curated with as much care and expertise as the coffee.

So go get social today!

Have you got a favourite drink or food, barista or spot to chill at Boxcar Social? Please let us know!

The Carbon Bar

Most places that serve up chuck often add the flavour from a grill or the right charcoal but at The Carbon Bar they make it a topping. Their brisket cheeseburger is one not to miss.

Skyline

Because griddle burgers have become so in vogue around the six, many burger places have opted to ditch the grill, but the Skyline keeps it old school and gives you that flavour you only get from the grill

Toronto’s hub for culture and creativity. Nestled away on a seemingly industrial stretch of Geary Avenue at Dufferin & Dupont, the Geary Lane studio is centrally located in an area of the city that is ripe with creative drive and youthful energy.

Housed in a 3000 square foot professional film studio and former recording studio, Geary Lane is a multi-purpose space that can magically transform to suit the needs of your creative projects. Whether you are looking for a state of the art location to shoot film or photography projects, a comfortable and accommodating space for intimate music or theatre rehearsals, or to educate the community through workshops, exhibits, or screenings, Geary Lane is the ideal space to let your creative ideas run wild.

THE COSTUME HOUSE

The Costume House is another venue situated in the Geary Avenue arts district. Originally built in the early 1900's by the Eaton family as a horse stable, this newly restored, turn of the century hard loft features a 13ft ceiling, original post and beam construction, textured brick, east-facing windows, and original oak flooring. This epic blank canvas provides the ultimate space for bringing your bespoke event creations to life.
